Castle - fortress "Vovnushki". XII century. Guloy-hee. Ingushetia

Middle-ages fortress complex "Vovnushki" - a unique monument of architecture XII-XVIII of centuries. Perhaps, it is one of the brightest and exotic tower complexes among other known structures of ancient Ingushetia. It is located on high crests of slate rocks of gorge of the river Guloy-hee and consists of two separate towers incorporated once by the pendant bridge. The basis of each of watchtowers is made with one and two four-storeyed towers with flat roofs and a high parapet. The protecting walls limited access to structures, are organically entered in a natural relief of unapproachable rocks.

According to archeologists and researchers, this tower complex, no less than others (Targim, Egee-Khal, Khamkhee), played also a sentry role in protection of a route of " the Great silk way ". Trading caravans on gorge Assinskoe left on northern slopes of the Big Caucasian ridge and on a valley of the river Sunzha left to Magas - to " City of the Sun ".

To rise to towers, it is necessary to overcome a difficult way, winding on steep rocks. Such arrangement of structures excluded a unexpected attack. Moreover, inhabitants of the lock could resist successfully as required attacked, maintaining long siege to a fortress.

The legend about the woman who in days of siege has rescueed from fire and attacked enemies of small children in crables is transferred descendants. The legend says, that it miracle managed to make some transitions from one tower of a fortress in another on the rope which has remained from destroyed besieged suspension bridge.

At the traveller this monument of an antiquity is amazing also admiration, and for Ingushs - pride of the ancestors which have created such unique constructions.
